Did you know that certain movies, as well as music or books or any art, can really influence you in a very good or a very bad way? I mean, it can obviously make you feel something. But why does it happen? Because the message, or vibration of it, affects us and our energetic centers, chakras.
If we talk about movies, we can divide all genres into the ones that are good for each chakra and the ones that we better avoid. I will give some specific example of movies here but if you have some other in mind, I encourage you to start sharing it in the comments so that others can learn about them too.
Let’s begin.
Muladhara Chakra
What is it about: This first chakra is responsible for survival, for our family, for food and for home. It is a chakra of death and life. We need the energy of Muldhara to survive. It is responsible for our basic needs and for our connections with “roots. So if we put ourselves in situation where we are scared of something, we lose our precious vital energy in great amounts.
Nourishing movies: For this chakra it is very beneficial to watch movies about harmonious good family relationships, and respect towards parents or elders, our ancestors. In brief, to nourish this chakra through movie it is good to see the ones that bring us the sensations of protection and confidence. Additionally, it is good to watch movies about beauty of nature, with trees, mountains, and oceans. They are all very grounding and nourish our primal energy. Beautiful example is a movie “Whale Rider”. For little children, wonderful movies and cartoons would be about love between parents, between grandfathers and grandmothers, about family support and how all of the family successfully gets out of challenges together. “Coco” is a wonderful example.
Depleting movies: Movies that can deplete this chakra are all horror or scary movies, movies about major accidents, about “the end of the world”. Basically, all movies that bring out the fear of death in us. It is extremely important for little children under 7 years old not to see it because at that time their first chakra is actively developing. They should not be watching something that makes them feel scared.
Swadhistana Chakra
What is it about: this second chakra is about joy, pleasure, sexuality, aliveness, procreation. It is a chakra and place of creativity, of sensuality and of femininity.
Nourishing movies: All movies that show the joy of living, pleasures of bodily sensations in a healthy way, healthy sexuality and romantic moments. Movies for this chakra should bring up this mood of a joyful little girl that is happy to be alive. Great example is a French movie “Amelie”.
Depleting movies: All movies with unhealthy sexuality: pornography, sexual perversions and dramas, dark sexuality. As well as all the movies that show complicated, unhealthy or senseless sexual relationships between man and woman. Also, all movies that show that sex is the only reason of living and happiness. That is simply limiting and impairing.
Manipura Chakra
What is it about: this third chakra is about will power, success, money, reaching goals, overcoming challenges. It is about strength of the character, leadership and responsibility.
Nourishing movies: All the movies that show us how someone reaches their goal and find success in life in a healthy honest way, because of a strong will and responsibility. All of the movies that are about a strong powerful character, or how someone becomes one, when someone takes charge of their life. These movies will seriously nourish our third chakra and will for sure make us feel like queens. Good movies are “Memoirs of Geisha” and “Devil Wears Prada”.
Depleting movies: All action movies with violence, shooting and fighting. The imagery in these movies makes us unconsciously activate surges of aggression and anger. And since they need to go out somewhere, we may feel depressed or suppressed because we didn’t really let them out. So we can also become irritable or offended, with no apparent reason.
Anahata Chakra
What is it about: this forth “threshold” chakra is about love, compassion, kindness, service, care.
Nourishing movies: All of the romantic movies where there is no drama, unhealthy obsession or just a neverending pointless co-dependency. The movies that show healthy, harmonious, balanced, mature love and deep, trusting relationships between man and woman. Better yet – the one that have purity, courtship and building of feelings. All of the movies about forgiveness, repentance and opening of the heart. And movies that show great potential of a woman’s heart and the power of her love (not only to a man). Perfect example here is my favorite “Jodha Akbar”.
Depleting movies: Like I mentioned above, all the movies with pointless drama, movies about heartbreaks, series like “telenovela” where love stories just never come to an end, trying to keep your interest high. It is very depleting for heart chakra. And energetically it takes away our feminine energy because it creates an illusion of us being in relationships, since we get involved in drama so deep. Women become too sentimental and they become simply unable to resolve their own romantic issues.
Vishuddha Chakra
What is it about: This fifth chakra is about self-expression, creativity in terms of service to others, about our mission here on Earth.
Nourishing: All of the movies that show how creative self is expressed in a healthy way, and how positively it can affect people. Those are the movies about artists and performers that serve others through their art and creativity. Good movies here are about people who change other people’s life with what they do in a good way. Good movies are “Coco Before Chanel”, “Frida”, “La Vie En Rose”.
Depleting movies: All of the movies that are about human tragedies, disasters, and negative events. As you may have realized, all of the news, media and newspapers are about that. And yes, it is better to avoid it. It is not about denying and choosing ignorance as bliss. It is about choosing to grow personally and spiritually in order to be able to be of service to humanity through your own creative power, versus fear and anger. Can you feel the difference? I am not even saying how media can literally program our mind, our way of speech and our behavior.
Ajna Chakra
What is it about: beautiful sixth chakra is about clear vision, intuition, self-awareness, being in the present moment.
Nourishing movies: The best movies here are about all these things I mention and how to achieve them. It is good to watch movies that would make you want to expand your mind, to meditate, to self-reflect. All of the movies where women use their intuition and wisdom are all beautiful and very nourishing. Great example is “Practical Magic” and of course “Eat Pray Love”.
Depleting movies: Thriller movies are the worst because they greatly affect our Ajna chakra. They create suspense and tension, negatively affecting our psyche. But most importantly, thriller takes away our sense of reality. Our body has to activate hormones of stress that are not really there. It destabilizes our hormonal system and thus messes us up internally. Our brain starts acting differently, exchange of energies disrupts and this all creates the feeling of energetic unsafety.
Sahasrara Chakra
What is it about: this seventh chakra is not so much about human aspect anymore because this is the last of the main chakras in us that connects us directly to the Divine. It is about our ability to be open to the Source, to be spiritual, to be connected, to be “in the flow”, to become enlightened.
Nourishing movies: It is best to avoid any movies to nourish this chakra, to be honest, because any movie is an illusion. But if we had to chose, that would be movies about spirituality or growth of thereof, about finding Guru or Teacher, movies about all of the spiritual related topics, maybe documentaries. So, “Eat Pray Love” can fit this category as well. However for women specifically it is not very beneficiary to dive so much into it. Women are about material world, in a good way. We are about Mother Earth, making babies or herbal potions, taking to spirits of Nature and Moon. This is our feminine spirituality. If you know of any good movies about female healers or teachers, insert them here.
Depleting movies: Like I mentioned, any movie is not good for this chakra. And the biggest form of information that brings the most negative impact to our Sahasrara is… internet. If you want to nourish and protect your seventh chakra, quit being online. The reason for that is nowadays so many people spend time with it so much that it gives them the sense of “God” of our modern time. Don’t you think so? Virtual reality becomes the only reality. So, if you want to become awakened, you need to stop spending time with the biggest illusion – internet.
In general, for us women, it is very good to watch kind comedies, positive movies, movies about pure and uplifting relationships, movies about beauty and healthy pleasure. As long as the movie brings you up and not down, this can be considered a good movie for you.
Vibrate higher, lovelies.
