Today we will continue our conversation about hair and its importance.
As I mentioned earlier, this topic is very big and can be explored again and again. Today, I would like to share some information on why hair is important for both men and women, what is the proper way of taking care of our it, and how to use it for protection.
Importance of hair for men and women
Have you ever thought about why men and women in older times mostly had long hair? Women were wearing these beautiful braids and hairdos; men had long hair and beards. People in ancient times knew how important it was to have long hair. They literally protect us and store our energy. Long hair for our ancestors were the representation of wisdom. When hair needed to be cut, there was always a serious reason for that. Think about why men always need to cut hair short in the army? Or why in some religions women need to cover their hair when they enter the church? Why in some cultures they talk about a mandatory haircut for babies before they turn one year old? And why Native Americans were practicing scalping?
The reason why those rituals were created is because hair do have psychic power. This power gives us the ability to think and recognize things. They same power gives us our magical abilities, that we can use to work with energies and our own inner sources. Cutting someone’s hair means to get control over them. The more and longer they are, the more capable you are to transform yourself and the world around you. Men facial hair have the same meaning and increase their abilities for intuition and visions. Facial hair, especially mustache, were giving men intuitive knowledge and wisdom. This subject can be explored more as each ancient culture had specific head and facial hair style for men, each with its own sacred meaning.
How to protect our hair?
If long hair is so important, what can we do to protect it and take care of it?
We can just let them grow. The longer – the better. Did you know that normal average length for healthy woman should be a buttocks length? The knee length is the amount of hair a woman should have to be completely protected and have enough of energy source. Women with long hair have so many ways of protecting themselves, their husbands and families. We will be talking about these later. A fun fact – in Slavic tradition there was a belief that a husband was getting protection from his wife when he was brushing her hair. I am sure the same goes when man washes your hair, besides the fact that it is simply very enjoyable and pleasurable 😉
Cutting them short may give you a sense of relief. It is especially popular for women after break ups, or some other tough life events. While it can give a feeling of lightness, it is really temporary. This is happening because our hair is literally an antennas that gather all energy around us, negative or positive. They soak in some bad situation and you feel like you need to get rid of them, or they are suddenly too long, hard to manage or too dirty and greasy. This simply means they have accumulated all the negativity, and are waiting for you to cleanse them properly. The best most effective and simple energy cleansing is not a haircut. It is brushing. Especially, if it is done regularly and with essential oils. I will gladly be sharing this later.
Try to braid your hair more. Or put them together in a nice beautiful bun. This will ensure you don’t give out your energy to strangers, while simultaneously protecting your hair from too much negativity and unnecessary information. Covering your head with hats and scarves is indeed another way of protecting them energetically.
To dye or not to dye?
Avoid dying your them too often, ideally – don’t dye at all. What happens when we dye our hair? Besides the fact that every hair dye has strong chemicals, destroying our hair structure, it is also very altering for our energetic health. Let’s go back to basic physics law.
The color of any object appears by the absorption of the light wave. When we see something of a particular color and say “This object is green”, it really means that this object is absorbing all other wave colors but the green. Now, let’s look at our hair. They all have specific shades of colors, not just one single color. If we apply the same law of light, our hair absorbs all shades of the light wave but our own, the one we have since birth. This means, we are absorbing the energy that we need exactly for our body and health.
What happens when we change color? You start absorbing “incorrect” energy, the one you don’t really need to strive and be happy. As a result, a disease may occur. Leaving your color the way it is really is the best way to take care of ourselves, even our gray hair has some elegance and sign of wisdom. Enjoy them, don’t hide them.
How do we use our hair for protection?
Once we have long hair, we already have protection. Other way of doing that is braids. You can keep a long braid along your spine and that will be the strongest protection because braided hair will be covering the entire vertebra. This is where our main energy points, or chakras, are located, and where we are the weakest if our back is open and unprotected. In Ancient Slavic tradition people believed that a girl with braided long hair was entirely protected by all the Higher Universal forces, as they were going in through the hair to the spine and were filling her body, spirit and soul with power. This way she was getting ready to fulfill her most sacred mission – to become a Woman and a Mother.
Keeping hair pulled together also gives us more ability to control ourselves. You may feel a subtle difference when you have your them loose and down, you would feel more loose yourself. This was the reason why ancient women were keeping their hair together and hidden. They did not want to loose energy and to attract unnecessary attention from men. Long loose hair was only for their own men, at home.
Keeping your hair together is the best way to protect them and yourself while you are at work, out and about and at any other public place. Experiment and see what difference it makes. Wear your hair loose all week and then wear them pulled together for another week. You will see how much stronger and calmer you are.
Try to give them some love. Feel how important they are. How nurturing and sacred they can be. Explore this topic in other cultures and traditions in older times. Next time we will talk about energy cleanse and what it gives us. We will also be talking about rituals that can we can perform easily, and why men prefer women with longer hair (they really do 😉 ).
Stay beautiful!
