Let’s talk about second feminine deity – Saraswati. In my previous article I shared about Lakshmi, a first aspect of it, that governs beauty and prosperity. Today we will talk about the second aspect.
Goddess of Wisdom and Creativity
Saraswati is responsible for three things: wisdom and preservation, knowledge and inspiration, and beautiful speech. It is an intuitive kind of wisdom that every woman has inside of her all the time. This is how she can best response to a man’s logic – with her intuitive visions and feelings.
This Goddess represents an absolute knowledge and perfecting of things. She is usually portrayed with four arms, where she holds a lute in one and a book of mantras in another. Her favorite color is white. She has a pleasant speech. This aspect of femininity is very much about a wholesome beautiful speech and all its aspects, including the ability to listen properly.
Her energy is inspiring and facilitating an easy and enjoyable conversation. It also helps with the spreading of the knowledge as well. She is always young and constantly evolves. This aspect of femininity helps to go away from just the external side of it, and turn the attention to the inner beauty.
If a woman is beautiful but doesn’t have any knowledge on how to express her beauty, she cannot be truly feminine. This is another reason why this aspect of femininity, Saraswati, is very important. A woman should know and have enough wisdom about how to build a relationship. She should learn various arts, cooking, psychology of people but men especially. A woman should be wise enough to know how to create a healthy and beautiful environment around her, how to clear her space energetically, how to use herbs in cooking and healing. She should be able to know how to open up her own creative potential that will then fill her in even more with feminine power. And then, she will be able to share it with her partner.
Since this deity is all about creativity as well, she represents the initial very first act of creation – an act of God who created the universe and everything in it. Her world is all about artists, musicians, philosophers. Her white color in clothes represents purity and knowledge, and her malas and lotus flower near her shows her connection to the Divine knowledge and Sacred rituals. This Goddess is an ultimate muse. So if a woman has a strong connection with Saraswati, she grants her the inner purity, wisdom, knowledge, understanding of her own nature, talents and eloquence. She also grants her the ability to always be refreshing and intriguing for her partner.
There is an important note to make about the difference between the man’s type of wisdom and the woman’s type of wisdom. Saraswati governs specifically woman’s type. If a woman reads many books, watch a lot of webinars or educational videos, she will only receive man’s type of intellect and knowledge. She will be as smart, as a man, but this is not what the Saraswati is responsible for. In other words, Saraswati governs the right hemisphere of the brain, that is still a knowledge, but more feminine, wisdom based creative knowledge, versus the right hemisphere of the brain that represents pure intellect and logic.
To be able to receive this kind of knowledge, a woman has to stay open. This knowledge comes to her from the above, God or Universe, and it comes as an inspiration. It is considered the most pure and initial type of the knowledge, which then filters and transforms into more logical structure in the left hemisphere. To receive that, a woman should know how to attract Saraswati to her life.
How to attract Saraswati?
On a physical level dairy products, and especially milk, can attract Saraswati into your life. Just a lot of liquids, and water especially, is also very good. Saraswati has a flowy and liquid-y nature (as oppose to Lakshmi, that is very stable). If a woman drinks enough water and healthy liquids, it can be seen – she becomes flowy and flexible too, inside and outside.
Wearing white colors is very beneficial and will attract the energy of this deity in your life. The best outfit to attract Saraswati is free flowing white silk dress. She also loves mantras a lot, as the energy of mantras is the energy of Saraswati.
What does Saraswati love?
This Goddess loves when someone is into some kind of art. It doesn’t have to be a job that brings money, but just anything that creates some sort of art – dancing, singing, painting.
Learning foreign languages or chanting mantras increases Saraswati aspect as well. I am mentioning the best mantra for Saraswati at the very end.
Listening to birds singing increases her energy. I mean, “stop and listen” type of listening. Because if a woman can listen, she can speak well. And if she speaks well, she can also listen. Listening to birds helps opening the throat chakra, Vishuddha, that is governed by Saraswati.
Listening to pleasant, soft music. Saraswati type of music is also very flowy, peaceful and slow. An excellent example would be classical music. You can feel when the music you listen to has Saraswati energy in it – it uplifts and elevates you. Such music goes into your upper chakras – above your heart and up. You feel more pure and at peace after this type of music. It inspires you and opens you up, not closes you or brings you down.
Communication with intelligent and wise people who has Saraswati in them. That means, not the people who are like walking encyclopedia, but wise ones with the knowledge they have applied and experienced themselves.
Learning and studying anything invites Saraswati into your life. An important moment here is to be able to share the skills and knowledge you have received after your studies. Otherwise this knowledge “goes bad” and becomes stagnant. That is why it is important to understand why you want to study something and what will you do with it in the end. Learning something just for yourself is usually the worst studying you can do. It will become your burden.
Consuming Gotu Kola. It is an herb that balances both brain hemispheres and brings harmony to mind. Gotu Kola helps to open up the intuition and to clearly express the knowledge you have. It can also help with calming the nervous system very well. It can be consumed simply as a tea, because it is actually much better than the tea.
Saraswati rituals
So, a few more things to do, and conclusions, to attract wisdom and creativity of this beautiful Saraswati.
♥ Wearing jewelry, especially malas made of white rocks and gems.
♥ Using white candles and red rose petals in decorations, and especially on the altar, if you have one for her.
♥ Listening to soft pleasant music and chanting mantras.
♥ Wearing white colors clothes.
♥ Consuming enough water and organic dairy, if you are not allergic to it.
♥ Stopping and listening to the birds’ singing.
♥ Communicating with wise people, and especially wise highly intuitive women.
♥ Studying something new.
♥ Drinking Gotu Kola tea with honey.
Mantra for Saraswati
This mantra should be chanted daily 108 times using your malas. When you use malas, you actually also increase Saraswati energy. This mantra will grant you feminine type of wisdom, or intuition, and this larger spacious feeling of knowledge. It is a perfect mantra to get this additional inspiration from the Highest Self, not just from mundane sources of information. It will also help you improve your speech, especially if you need it at your work.
