After taking a Bath of a Queen, we should all have a Sleep of a Queen. So I decided to write about exactly that.
Sleep is very important for everyone, and it is especially important for women. It is so very important that there have been multiple studies done on this subject and all of them show how having a good proper sleep affects our performance the next day, and our health overall. For a woman, to have a good night sleep is actually one of the ways for her to maintain and nourish her femininity. Yes, even sleeping properly can strengthen that. So what it is like, to have a sleep of a Queen?
1. Preparation
Preparation for sleep is almost as important as the sleep itself. Make sure you minimize any activity as much as you can about two hours prior to sleeping. That means, dedicate your last two hours of the day to something that calms you down, puts you in the mode of relaxation and peace. All the unresolved things that were left from the day by now should be taken care of later, tomorrow or some other time.
2. Lights off
As part of the preparation, make sure you use minimum amount of lighting. It is better to use some dimmer lights like nightstand lamps, or candles, nightlights or salt lamps (my favorite!). The less light you have on, the more you nervous system can relax. And did you know that according to Ayurveda, ancient Indian medicine, it is even preferable to turn all the lights off by 9:30pm? Think about it.
3. No electronic devices
I am myself struggling with this one sometimes but it is very crucial to not actively use any electronic devices before you go to sleep. If you absolutely have to, make sure you use filters: either from a special computer glasses that you can find online, or red filters on your devices. All of that will block blue light, which is the main trigger for our nervous system. I have a rule of not using a computer after 9 pm at all times. I am trying to do the same with my phone.
Another important thing is try to not have anything electronic in your bedroom. As less, as possible. All of the electronic devices emits electromagnetic waves that derange us and our nervous system. They also affect our health in general. I always turn my phone off for the night and the only electronic device I have on is my light alarm.
4. Fresh air
Make sure you let some fresh air in before you go to sleep. It is always helpful. Especially at night, when the air becomes magically clearer and cleaner. I am just a huge lover of fresh air myself so I am always very welcoming to it đ
5. Bed sheets
Have you thought of the bed sheets that you spend several hours with every night? Even though it may not always be a priority, however it is important to get yourself some good quality sheets. Good quality means from ecologically made materials, like organic cotton or linen or hemp. Our skin touches the bed sheets all night long, and we need to make sure no chemicals are coming in contact with it.
6. Free space down under
As convenient as it may be, it is actually not good to store something under your bed. And of course, no random things should be laying down there too. If you think about it, you are laying on top of it, and it is a good idea to have a free space to let the energy flow freely there. This is from feng shui, but it also just makes so much sense to me on its own.
7. Away from outlets
Going back to the electromagnetic fields: it is not recommended to sleep with an electric outlet right by your head. I know, in most cases it’s hard becayse this is where you plug your lamp or alarm. But it is really better to get away from it. It does emit bad stuff so the further away you are from it, the better.
8. Pleasant design
In general, it is good to have a pleasant, calming design in your bedroom. It is the place to sleep and have rest, and make love. So make sure you donât have anything here that would distract you from one or another. Having beautiful harmonious paintings on the walls, pleasant colors and textures of fabric, nice decorations is always beneficial.
A quick tip for someone who likes to manifest stuff: put on the walls something you want to see in your life as you wake up. I have a painting of Goddess Lakshmi on the wall across from my bed. So I see her as soon as I wake up and it is always a nice view, and she represents beauty and prosperity. Donât hang things that donât make sense to you or that are trendy but evoke negative or worrying feelings.
9. Less plants and pets
I know this one can be hard but we should make sure to have as less any other living creatures as possible in the bedroom. It is also from feng shui but it also makes sense to me too, if you think more. When we sleep, we are very vulnerable energetically. So if we have another living being there with us, we will interact with them somehow. Think of what kind of interaction it can be. Exactly, you are not sure. Unless it is a loving partner, or your dog that just cannot stay outside somewhere, keep all other living things away.
10. Nightstand magic
This is a wonderful magical spot full of pretty, important, special and secret things. Your nightstand is like a mini oasis of things you need while you travel in the land of dreams. So it is good to have all the things you need but clutter-free. Also, have a glass of water there all the time. No, it is not for drinking. If you need to, you can drink. However the main purpose of it is actually to absorb all the negative energy that may float around you while you sleep. There is nothing creepy about it because night time is a dark time, where all the entities that are not active during the day, âwake upâ and do their things. Sometimes, their things may be to interact with your sleeping body and get some of your energy. So, to protect yourself from it, just have that glass of water by your side. In the morning, make sure you pour that water our directly into the ground, if possible. And if you had a bad dream, you can use it to erase it from your mind by saying magical words: âAs the water goes away into the ground, so does my bad dreamâ. Other good things to have on your nightstand for decoration and protection are: crystals, salt lamps, sacred objects, incenses, a container with salt (acts the same as water, so discard it every other night and put fresh salt).
11. Beauty sleep secret
We all know that sleep is our main beauty weapon. What we might not know is that it actually works in its full force when we go to sleep at the right time. So it is not so much the quantity of sleep, but its quality. Us, women, we have to go to sleep and fall asleep before 11 pm. The reason for that is the collagen that is one of the main ingredients of our skin and hair and beauty in general. This powerful component activates in our bodies and starts production at 11 pm, and if we are awake at that time, it wonât produce as much. You can research as to why and how, but it is something that was proven by our wonderful scientists. So make sure you get your beauty sleep right. Go to bed early, like a good girl you are. (Most of the time đ )
12. Ask for help
If you do have some unresolved issues left from the day, or something that bothers you, you can ask for your subconscious to help you. If you cannot seem to find a solution, just surrender and say: âDear subconscious, I ask you now to work out all the unresolved issues I have in my sleep tonight. May by the morning they will all be unresolved the best way possibleâ. Or something of that nature. Our subconscious is a powerful thing and it can surely help us if we know how to ask.
13. Spray away
In the morning, spray your bed sheets with some water. I use lavender water. Why to do it? Well, going back to that not creepy stuff, when you get up and go into the new day, you actually leave a little projection of your sleeping body on your bed. To be more precise, it is energetic particles of your astral body (you have several bodies, and I encourage you to research if you are unfamiliar with it). When you spray some water, you sort of dissolve your energetic leftovers and ensure that you wonât be sleepy all day long. Because guess what happens if you are out and about, and part of you is still in bed? Exactly, you feel more sleepy and tired that you should be.
14. Journal/meditate/walk it out
As an option of preparation and to wash away the day, you can do one of the three things: journaling, meditating, walking. All of these help you set your mind to sleep, declutter it from the unnecessary information, and just cleanse it out. I do all or some of those, depending on my mood or season. It works like magic every time.
Sleep peacefully and beautifully, ladies!
